I don't believe that USB 2.0 is supported on any windows system later then 2000, maybe not even 2000. I would suggest searching the microsoft.com site for USB 2.0 drivers that will work on 98, I have XP and I know I needed to install a driver in order to get my USB 2.0 to work correctly on my computer. So I suggest searching around for USB2.0 drivers for the 98 OS
Best Wishes

USB 2.0 is not supported under Windows 98. As far as I am aware, USB 2.0 support is available in Windows 2000 SP4 and of course, WIndows XP. That being said, your USB 2.0 drive will work just fine in 1.1 mode at a reduced speed.

USB2.0 was not a standard when Win98 was created. The standard at the time was USB1.0 or 1.1. Given how quickly the Win9X family changed there was no real good reason for Micro$oft to write a patch to upgrade a program that had already been superseded by 98SE and ME.

for USB devices to work properly under windows 98, you need to get the manufacturer's drivers. There is a 50/50 chance that they did not make drivers for windows 98 though.

Wasn't the USB 2 standard implemented after 98 was released? How can you possibly write an operating system to support something that (put another way) hasn't been invented yet.

However, I think the second release does support it.

Windows 98 wasnt designed to support USB 2.0. You need to force these drivers yourself to make it work.

It is also the port. Your USB card is not build to support 2.0.

Try that one http://driveragent.com/?ref=103

They can scan your PC for old/not working drivers, and fix them, if applicable, and best of all, it's free!

Best wishes.
