You have to be sure you have enough to finish the job and that the area your going to pour is water tight. You shouldn't have to do any finishing work with the product, it will level on its own. Be sure the floor is clean and does not have anything that will effect the bond to the floor.

It's not difficult to use a floor levelling compound. In fact most of the off the shelf stuff is self levelling. I recent filled in some flooring aound our fireplace and I'm an amatuer DIYer.

Mix it runny, like single cream, and work fast, or it'll go off on you.

Mix some PVA adhesive (from B&Q or whatever) with about 4 parts water, and sweep it over the area first, to seal the concrete, and ensure that the levelling compound sticks.

Trowel it into place, and leave it overnight.

YUou should be able to scrape it down a bit next morning, if you need to reduce any little lumps.

Just remember to work backwards towards the door! Believe me, people have painted themselves into a corner.

Prepare the surface well, getting rid of dust etc. I give it a wash as well to be sure.
Pour a little at a time and spread........easy really.
