Yes - Any kind of backache is normal and expected. Many people have upper backache in early pregnancy and lower back pain later on. Try lying flat.

My back "went" this evening. I bent over to pick something up and it just sort of clicked and its been agony ever since. I'm 24 weeks pregnant.
I have never had backache before - I'm a trained dancer but haven't really danced at all in my pregnancy - the first three months I was too incapacitated with morning sickness to do anything and I just haven't got round to going back to classes. I feel really bad about this as I know some dancers dance right the way through and its supposed to be good for you to exercise. I'm sure this is why my back has gone.

Yes, that is just starting for me actually. I'm 22 weeks along. My aunt is pregnant also, and I know she's had it her entire pregnancy, so it's common. I sit in an office all day, so I'm sure it isn't good for my back and doesn't help.
Try and stretch as often as you can. Your Dr. should have some exercises you can do to help with backaches. They seem to help me a little bit.

I am 6 months pregnant and have had all sorts of pain especially in my back. When your pregnant you feel pain in places you never thought you could feel pain in. The best home remedy for me is warming a towel and placing on a round pillow. Just lay on the towel and pillow and let the heat work. Don't get the towel too hot though.

Yes, I am 5 weeks pregnant and I wake up every morning with a back ache. I will go away as you move around during the day.

oh my gosh i woke up this morning and my back in between my shoulder blades is killing me!!! I am going to the chiropractor later, but it was awful sleep last night - i even had taken tylenol pm before bed.
Like it isn't hard enough to change positions at night wh en you are 38 weeks, that now you have to add excruciating back pain to it!

I suffered very bad back ache when pregnant, I went to see a homeopath and was fixed within a matter of days, it really does work!
Homeopathy does not harm your baby either.

I know it's expensive, but get a massage from a therapist. Most of them specialize in pregnacy massages, and it thins your blood to open the circulation of the blood- limiting back problems.
