First you will need to have a roofer check out the roof and see where the leaks originate. Then replace or repair the roofing at the point of the leak(s). If the ceilings aren't too badly damaged you can paint them with kilz (purchased from a home improvement store) and then paint over that with ceiling paint. It could be a lot of work, but well worth the effort in the long run.

You really should have invesitgated the property somewhat more thoroughly before signing the contract of sale. The wonderful principle of caveat emptor applies here: let the buyer beware. The seller was under no obligation to tell you about any physical defects of the house that are patent; i.e., ones that are visible.
I would say that holes in the roof would be likely to fall within this bracket (unless latent in which case the vendor should have told you); but as someone has intimated, if you engaged a surveyor and they had given the house a clean bill of health - so to speak - you could possibly sue them for a negligent misstatement. That is a statement which was false, but was also one which induced you to enter into a contract that you otherwise would not have made but for the advice.
I suggest you contact a solicitor, and obviously have a look at your insurance policy if you have one.
P.S. Have fun with the flooded house ;)

go into the attic when it is raining so you can see where the leak is
put some buckets there to stop the water damage and keep them empty
when it clears up pull up the shingles and buy some patch and reapply shingles.
You really should call a roofer but I dont know how to help you there. Water damage can really mess up a house

Water leaking from the suitable roof is choosing up contaminants because it flows to the decrease ranges. till the leak is got here around the water will merely be pushed round and discover new places to start up by skill of the ceiling.

call your nearest roofer - yelloow pages?
Go up in the attic and look for obvious leaks, get a bucket under there quick, before your ceiling comes down.
Check your house insurance, you should be covered for damage caused - water stains, plaster coming down.
