Most of them do. The problem is that as soon as you take the car out, they charge your debit card for the full amount that they think your bill would be and don't give you a refund of any extra money until long after the rental. That can be a nasty surprise, especially if you are on vacation and the hotel does the same thing to you when you show up there.

I have used a debit card at avis rental. as long as it has the visa or mastercard logo they should take it. you just have to have the money in the bank.
