Both have 4 cyl engines but they look similar except for the intake system. Will the newer engine bolt up to the older auto transaxle or am I just wishful thinking it might?

Your local salvage yard should be able to tell you. They have interchangability books. You also need to think about whether the computer will be compatible with the other engine. When you mention the difference in the intake system then there may be sensors and modules on there that the existing computer won't accept.

Yes, it's the same block. You can also substitute a 2.2 from a ford probe. Same block. Just take the head off. Leave the intake and exhaust bolted on. Pull it all off together. Then unbolt the torque converter, motor mounts, and bell housing and get the block out of there. Put your new, stripped down block in the car and buy a head gasket. Now put the top end on and set the timing. Pretty simple. You may have to order an entire top end set though. Those are 100 bucks for this engine. Crazy I know. OK, hope this helped. Good luck.

tremendously optimistic trans is diverse. In any adventure, it'd be an extremely puzzling swap. The quicker 13B has a ton of greater advantageous stuff that is going with it, such because of the fact the ICU (the innovations), air flow sensor, inter-cooler, and the exhaust gadget. The exhaust specifically may be a actual nightmare. i might flow with the two a quicker or supercharger and doubtless upload nitrous. this may be plenty, plenty decrease priced and could make for a much greater livable automobile once you're achieved something may be achieved, yet you would be throwing lots of funds at it to place the rotary in that automobile.
