no it doesnt. the memory type on a video card is simply there for those people who want to know every little clock speed on their system and buy the cards with the faster ones. or, in some people case, its for people who mod their card with things like more ram, or even an extra GPU (saw some NASA IT guy do that on a 7600GT, never seen anyone else even try it), so that they get the ram types the same and the card functions correctly. in fact, its impossible (or on a practical standard at least) to match the two types because video cards run off of totally differnt types (like GDDR3, most ram is either DDR or DDR2)

no it doesn't have to match,ur video card memory has no effect ova the systems memory.VC mem best is GDDR3 an PC mem best is DDR667
