While still in high school and working on a science fair project, I picked up a test tube during an experiment. As I held it, the tube started to get warm and then hot. I figure that the something went wrong and the reaction was becoming highly exothermic (giving off heat).

Just as I threw the tube away from myself, it exploded, sending fragments of glass in all directions, including my left hand and the side of my neck. My hand was severely damaged and I lost the last digit from the ring finger.

When finally healed several months later, if anyone asked what happened to it I would reply with a perfectly straight poker face: "A girl bit it off." I have since learned to always tell the truth.

I must tell you first that I am not normal. I live in China but I am an American and everyday is an adventure. I went to Tibet and visited Potala Palace, Climbed Mt. Everest (but only to 9,000 feet as I didn't have a license to go further), I have walked many miles of the Great Wall, entered the tombs of the Qin Emperors, saw the pyramids of China, photographed snow leopards, crossed the Gobi Desert, followed the Silk Road, Been to Sikkim, Bhutan, Tibet, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar, and about 15 other countries...and you expect me to choose? How about almost being crushed between a lusty elephant and a female in heat?....is it exciting? I have been bitten twice by crocodiles, and clawed or stomped or scratched, stung, bitten or mauled by countless animals and shot twice by people.....I keep saying that tomorrow I may take up basket-weaving as an adventure.

Diving in the red sea, unbelievable and a little scary!
Id only passed my license and my first qualified dive was at a site called sharks observatory where the sea is 750 feet deep, when I looked down into the abyss the darkness was immense and I couldn't imagine what lurked below. We swam to the reef and colours started to appear in the sea bed, coral of all shapes and sizes made homes for glimmering fish and moray eels snaked through a wreck.
Anybody who has even considered diving should give it a go, and if your ever lucky enough to go to the Egypt diving, GO!

Running from the Mexican soldiers on the beach at Acapulco. Those dudes carry machine guns!! and apparently they frown upon people "allegedly" smoking hash on the beach. They chased us for about a mile and every time I looked back there was more of them..

Sex with my wife in a changing room during vacation in an Islamic republic, knowing that if were caught, the penalty was probably death. Believe me it was the hottest sex we ever had in 15 years of marriage
