There have been numerous "studies" done to determine what happens after being beheaded. I don't think anyone has ever been able to determine anything meaningful through all of this "science".
There is a whole chapter of a book called "Stiff" that is devoted to this subject. If you are really interested in this subject, you can buy this book on Amazon and read all about it. The book actually covers all sorts of stuff on dead people and is an interesting read. I highly recommend checking it out.

This actually came up in an history class I was in. When there were a lot of beheadings being done in Europe they did a prearranged survey - blink one for yes, twice for no type thing - with condemned prisoners - and after the beheading (guillotine)they would pick up the head and ask if it hurt and eventually narrowed it down to it feeling like a feather being drawn across the back of the neck. The worst job in the execution process was the person who had to pick up the basket with the head in it as the eyes were all looking up at them.
(oh - the brain can go up to about three minutes without oxygen)

Depends on the rate of blood loss from the brain. In theory all the while the brain has a supply of oxygenated blood it will continue to work.
Some believe this could be as long as 60 seconds.
I would suspect that the beheaded person would be in serve shock and would not actually feel anything.

actually, a speedy beheading might want to be a somewhat speedy demise. between the flaws that occurs is severing the veins and arteries connect with the mind. This leads to an rather speedy drop in blood stress. Unconsciousness might want to happen very right now. A 2d or 2 on the most. As for atheism being stupid, it is in uncomplicated words in accordance to organic good judgment exam of the claims and the accessible info.

I've actually read about this some firsthand accounts of beheadings....they say that the head can "live" for up to 30 seconds...actually aware of the missing body...before dying. Can't remember the site, sorry....there were stories of heads crying, looking back and forth frantically, yawning (that makes sense to me - lack of oxygen killing the brain), etc. spooky if you ask me...damn.

Yes, the brain is still going until the loss of blood robs the oxygen from the brain tissue. This is just a few seconds.

A colleague of my father once witnessed a traffic accident where a guy got his head chopped off. He (the head, that is) blinked with his eyes one or two seconds after having been separated from the body.
Not sure if that proofs anything.
Why do you ask? Did you plan to commit suicide with a bread slicer?
