I am very vey late and all of my tests came out negative. I believe that I am pregnant. I am requesting a blood test to be done by my dr. and I suggest if you have the same problem that you do the same.
Hope this info helps.

With my fist child I had a faint period for the first trimester and didn't even think I was pregnant, I didn't do a test till I would have been 10 weeks, I had no symptoms at all. I bought the Preg test that actually says "pregnant", and it actually said "pregnant".
With this latest pregnancy ( I am 17 weeks) I just bought the plain old pink line test. It said to wait a minute or so before checking it, I checked it on the morning of mothers day and after waiting 2 mins, I only saw 1 line, so I just went on believing my period must just be late cause I am stressed, at that point I would have been 4 weeks pregnant. 2 weeks later, still no period, I took the second test out of the box and did that, what a shock when I saw 2 pink lines. I took the first test out of the plastic (dont know why I kept it) and I did actually see a faint pink 2nd line.

Apparently you can get a false negative, but almost never a false positive.

If you don't pee on the test properly it may give a false negative.

If you let the test wait for too long you will get a false result.

If you try to test yourself too early (i.e. too soon after the act) it may give a false negative.

If its positive its almost 100% that its right.

You are more likely to get a FALSE Neg rather than a FALSE Pos. They are more accurate the longer u wait to test. Id suggest not to take one till your period is actually due, or a few days late. If u are not sure, go to your doctor for a blood test, they are more accurate

some cheap tests r unreliable, so go for a good one, don't regret money. but u should get ur first missed period to see the results. too early they'll all show negative.
one more thing - 'negative' can be a mistake, but 'positive' can't.

i had this happen to me. i took an home pregnancy test Feb.1 and it was negative. i waited till my period was 9 days late (feb.23)and took a test at the doctors and it was positive. its very possible for a hpt to be wrong. the best bet is to go to the doctor.

They are quite accurate. Now there is a brand call "Clear Blue" . You can try that, but remember to take you test with the first urine in the morning. Even if you go Polyclinic they will ask you to possible take the first urine of the day.

they are 99.9% trustworthy - as long as you get a decent one - cheap ones are less effective

look on the box - it will tell you how effective it it

yes it is possible to have neg result - in early stages - leave it a few days and re-test - if afer 5 days still no period - speak to your GP

depends on the test that you buy. remember if you are buying the cheap ones like equate or what not you only get what you pay for. Try getting the new digital ones they came out with they are awesome and over 99..9% accurate. good luck
