The outline is worse because they go over and over it to make it dark. But if it hurts that much you can get this over the counter cream. It's called Emla creme. (I don't know if I spelled it right). You put it on the area pretty thick and put a peice of plastic wrap over it for 30 - 45 minutes. Then finish your tattoo. You won't feel a thing. It's great. We use it at the salon to peirce little girls ears and they don't even blink from any pain. I also knew a girl who got a monster big tattoo on her back and with your exact problem and she used the cream to finish it. I also have girls who get their bikini waxed and use that stuff. It's over the counter put you have to ask the pharmacist.

The Outline is most painful. It's a lot thinner and takes more time. They also repeat the process which adds to the discomfort. However the colour is a lot more easier on the skin. It still hurts though but not as much. It's will hurt a bit more than having it on a more fleshy part of the body, but hey no pain no gain.

I got mine in the same spot however I had everything done at once. Once the outline was finished I didn't even feel him coloring it in. Normally the outline hurts more than the color unless you are getting shading done.

I have one on my upper back. I don't know why, but the black outline did hurt considerably more than the color "filling" did. And the outline also hurt more when the artist was above my clavicle (shoulder bone).
