No, the mainstream media and the Government are controlled by a loose connection of interconnecting corporate interests. Hence why the Government and the media often contradict themselves. They are reacting to whatever part of the corporate oligarchy is kicking up a fuss at the time.
There are secret intelligence agents at work within both, the media and the Government. MI6, MI5 are not controlled by the government, but work in the best interests of their controllers, often in ways to keep the government in power, but also in ways to damage or put pressure on the government to follow a particular agenda.
The agents working in the media will censor, edit or enhance a particular story to manipulate puplic opinion on a given issue. This is why some stories, no matter how credible or well sourced and documented, will never get any serious coverage in the media.
The Government and media are puppets playing to another groups agenda.
these controllers are niether liberal or conservative, but they do like to manipulate the media to get both sides attacking each other instead of the real agents of control.
If you think the media is too liberal, or too conservative, you are being played for a fool. The controllers are manipulating you and using you, you ARE brainwashed.
Think for yourself and source your news from a MUCH wider area. see what the news is from home and abroad, from left, right, and center, then learn who is who in the media and find commentators you trust. It's better to get news from independent freelancers than large corporate organisations.

Heck no. If the mainstream media was controlled by the government, there wouldn't be anywhere near the amount of Bush-bashing going on. The mainstream media is owned and controlled by the liberals. You can tell because they take such delight in no-holds-barred attacks on conservative groups, the two biggest being Christianity and the military (they'll say or do ANYTHING to make followers of Christ and the U.S. Armed Forces look bad).

To a certain extent all media here in the US is controlled by Washington. At least nearly all. If they do not play within Washington's rules they will not be on the list for any news as it happens from the people who make the news. A lot of the current news makes me mad when I watch it anyway. The one news woman on CNN seems to think it's funny when someone else is in trouble. She is constantly making jokes about some of these things. She is very stupid acting. Were it not for her reading skills she would probably be a waitress in some greasy spoon somewhere. There is no such thing as unbiased news any more. All you can ever hope for is a hint of what happened. The rest is all opinions of others.
