It's probably legal, but not entirely practical, as some of the other answers have said.

What would be cute would be to name the kid the word "unknown" in another language - it is "Desconocido" in Spanish, which I think sounds quite sexy.

"Desconocido" for a boy

"Desconocida" for a girl.

Imagine telling people what your name means and where it came from when you're older! WOW!

Sure. But I suggest you give it a last name too. Something catchy like" anonymous" or "factor" or "to be filled in later". You have to consider the child's future. Would you want the dear thing to be laughed at at school? I think not. You sound like a very caring and supportive women. I say give the child a good last name.

You can name your child anything you want. But naming them something that will torment their lives is pretty cruel and this might fall under that category. I went to school with a "Rose Bush" and most people who I tell that make a comment about her parents being mean for doing so.

so, when you child starts kindergarten: you want him or her teacher to call them, 'unknown -------" can you answer the question.
use it in a sentence that others would say and see if it would be right to name this.

that is not fair to the child at all!!!
and when they become a teenager then what??

this is just cruel of you to do this to a child you supposably love.

You can name your kid anything you want, but take into consideration the damage it can do to the kid down the road.

Hey, if one can name their kid Piolet Inspektor or Apple...you can name them Unknown. You can name your kid anything you want.

It may be legal but I think it's not very practical. When you stand on the door step and yell "UNKNOWN, DINNERTIME!", who's gonna show up? :-)

Yes its legal I guess, but that would be stupid and your kid might hate you for doing that.
