I loved the 80's. I would go back. I miss my Atari (I know that was lame compared to now but I liked it)
The music was great.
Some really sick part of me misses leg warmers.
Drive in movies were fun.
My 80's weight, I would like to have that back! :)
Opera Cream cookies from Keebler, they were tasty. ( maybe that's why I don't have my 80's weight!)
Hyper color clothes. (remember those?)
Etc. Etc.........

I loved my niaviety and innocence, Madness, Billy Bragg, New Order (all of who are sill around so don't really miss thm I suppose!), Sat morning Kids TV, kids comics still being good and my snorkel jacket. However compared to Thatcherism, unemployment, Miami Vice, the fact the Simpsons hadn't started properly and the Northern Ireland troubles being at their height, I prefer to stay where I am thank you very much!

The Good Part:

Mainstream pop music was pretty good, and people didn't obsess about the imaginary evils of nipple exposure.

Pop movies were about T&A, and there was nothing wrong with age disparity between sex partners (Zapped, Weird Science, and a host of other "almost soft-porn" shows that SHOULD have gotten a "G" rating, but prudes prevented that).

Girls (women) had normal-sized boobs and bras were optional. To (and for) normal people, sex was still something humorous and healthy and enjoyable.

"Jiggle TV" and other TV featuring sexy babes -- from "Buck Rogers in the 25th Century" (technically, that's 1979) to "Round the Twist" (1989).

Porky's (I, II, III) was a bit dark, but such is the nature of drama; the religiosity crowd (predictably, albeit oddly) had no problem at all with the kid being beaten and subjected to verbal, emotional and spiritual abuse -- but absolutlely freaked about the nudity and non-violent, consensual, OFF-SCREEN "sex."

Even commuters could afford fuel (though it sucked when gas went over $1.00 per gallon)

Ronald Reagan reminded us of who we thought we wanted to be: respected in the world (and being neither pansies nor bullies), in all things promoting equity.

We were blissfully unaware that the US government was organizing, funding and supplying fundamentalist Islamic extremists -- notably, OBL and Al Qaeda.

I started voting.

The Bad Part:

I voted Republican most of the time.

We were blissfully unaware that the US government was organizing, funding and supplying fundamentalist Islamic extremists -- notably, OBL and Al Qaeda.

Gasoline went over $1.00 per gallon.

Horror movies, and "blood and gore fests." Desensitization of the public to violence.

The rise of gangs.

The rise of video games.

The rise of alcoholism and abuse of other "hard" drugs such as cocaine, methamphetamine, etc. (though technically, the latter began in the '70s in my state's major cities).

Oh, if you JUDGE a decade from what was on the idiot box, then I wouldn't know. I was too busy to waste my time watching some stupid, mind numbing tv show. Now, if you were to ask how it was from a personal financial perspective, yes, I LOVED the '80's! I miss Ronnie.

Life before the Internet was more personal. The music was POP. Mafia and cocaine was the Hollywood theme. Cold war was winding down, and Ronald Regan was the man. I was a teen back than, however, it shaped my dreams and an outlook on life. =)

I really didn't like the 80's that much. I didn't like it then and I really don't like to reminisce about it.

Guilty as charged.

I'm was an 80's "teen brat" and proud of it...

I miss all the "non-adult/non-responsible" parts of it.

No Reaganomics please...
