easier said then done.

But let's look at religion as whole, shall we? It is a double edged sword. On one side, it helps give people a purpose, a reason to get up in the morning. For others, religion gives a set of rules to follow and a code of behavior.

But just as a sword can be used for defense, it can attack as well.

Religion can be used to drive people to madness and violence. Opposing sects kill each other over small differences in their views, and corrupt clerics stir fears and hatred for their own gain.

But to answer your question...you need religion for people to believe in. We just need better ways of dealing with those religions that drive their followers to violence.

Why don't we do away with war instead? Religion provides a lot of meaning and positive benifit to peoples lives. Most world wars have been fought over power and resources even though often religion has been involved. WW2 for example included massive persecution of Jewish people and was pushed forward by Hitlers "religious" vision of an ideal world. However he would not have risen to power if it had not been for the economic strife the German people were facing. We should practice peace, love, acceptance and sharing then the goals of most religions will be reached.

While I have no problems with religions dying out like they are now, they are not the true reason behind wars. Power is, and always has been. Only thing is, all kind of rulers use religion as a tool to keep their people fighting.

it's ironic that what binds people together is the thing that divide us.
religion is not the source of conflict among people, it's the over believing in some idealistic ideas and the people that take advantage of it is what putting us to war.
