i'd base the argumentation on the following:
more and more we get more specifically into exclusive areas, in such way that we lose the general view, even of our own field in an integrated way.
Therefore, humanities become essencial to assure that any person who specializes in THBT sciences is able to comply with tasks beyond the specific knowledge required and integrate it in a wider frame. Furthermore, school ought to not only prepare us for a profession, it ought to prepare us for life. The more enriched and the wider the knowledge, the better we can succeed professionally and as individuals in the social sphere.
Goodluck^^

We do not go to college only to learn a profession/a way to earn a living. We can get so much out of an education. A real education should: (1) prepare you to be better citizens. In a democracy, a person should have a well rounded education so he/she can have an informed vote. Unfortunately, that is what has hurt the USA specially in the past few years, how could an administration like the one we have now be re-elected?!! Simple. People are ignorant and gullible. The do not bother to check the facts (probably didnt even know how to) and prefer to just believe what a "nice looking fellow" politician tells them. Less likely to happen if you have a well rounded education. (2) It is very sad that many bright professionals are unable to communicate with their clients properly for lack of sensitivity, communication skills, and knowledge about sociology/psychology an anthropology. Hope you never have one of them as a physician, nurse, pharmacist, etc... Its very frustrating. (3) Very few hot people in the science department so if that is your major, taking humanity classes gives you the chance to meet other attractive people. (OK, that was a joke...sort of...)... well got to run, but you get the idea?...good luck

I gave some links in your other question. They should be helpful to you. I think the words of Albert Einstein are awesome!
"It is not enough to teach a man a specialty. Through it he may become a kind of useful machine, but not a harmoniously developed personality. It is essential that the student acquire an understanding of and a lively feeling for values. He must acquire a vivid sense of the beautiful and of the morally good.....He must learn to understand the motives of human beings, their illusions and their sufferings, in order to acquire a proper relationship to individual fellow men and to the community. These precious things are conveyed to the younger generation through personal contact with those who teach, not--or at least not in the main--through text books. It is this that primarily constitutes and preserves culture. This is what I have in mind when I recommend the "humanities" as important, not just dry specialized knowledge in the fields of history and philosophy. Overemphasis on the competitive system and premature specialization on the ground of immediate usefulness kill the spirit on which all cultural life depends, specialized knowledge included."
Good luck with your debate.

So u will have to justify studying Geaography, History etc.
Which part of the world are you in? Cause u will need to emphasize the richness of ur culture...
And also:
why study geography? :
1. In order to understand our present world - how it came to exist - and live in it - what would science be without that.
2. In order to understand our community better - in terms of education and where the rest of the world stands !
3. Wihout geaography how would we leatn abt earthquakes or other natural calamities?
4. How would we travel to other places?

First of all, what is THBT... first mistake a lot of questioners make that we all understand the same acronyms...
Science answers the question what can we do, humanities attempts to answer the question should we do it.
