You probably dont have Java Runtime environment installed.All chat Applets run with Java.Please visit Java.com and download the same free.
OR,it could be a virus that is corrupting your softare.
Windows defender is also free to Download at
www.microsoft.com.
It will protect your sysytem from most viral and Worm infections.

i had that problem.....
i went into start.....add and deleat programs....clicked tahoo messanger.....uninstalled it..........
then go back onto the web and go yo yahoo and reinstall it.
it worked for me.........i went into detail incase you have never done it before.

Please remove Yahoo mess anger from your system and then install it again. While installing please change the directory so that your mess anger is in different directory. It will help.
