you can take your old computer to the local council rubbish dump,,,but before you do make sure that the hard drive (the bit where all information is stored) is wiped clean,,as old computers are known to end up in third world country's and sold again with your personal information still on the hard drive and could be used in a fraudulent manner,, so be careful don't to become a victim, hope this helps you in some way as the local council will tell you that its the responsibility of the owner to make sure that all information is deleted from the hard drive and not theirs. good luck.

I would first of all wipe all info on it or it will end up in a place like nigeria and sold as a hard drive and all the info you kept on it will be sold with it. I just seea documentry on this infact the best time to get rid of your computer will be next year when new rules and regulations come in about the dumping of cumputers and the authorities that sell them on to places like Nigeria so just wait until then or wipe it clean and sell it

I've heard that the Salvation Army takes old computers that are donated and refurbishes them. They then either resell them or use them. Of course, that would be a donation. Try putting an ad in the Penny Saver if you want to make some extra $$.

I dont think you get much money nowadays for outdated hardware. Poorer overseas countries are always desperate for computers for perhaps some charity might be able to take it off you. (Make sure your hard drive is well and truly wiped first!) Other than that I took mine to my local recycling centre and waved it a fond farewell with a tear in my eye.....

Donate it to your local school or a daycare/nursery school. No way to tell if you can get money for it if we don't know how old it is or what the specs are...
