someone gave me this really important information about someone. i've been dying for months to get it, and yesterday she surprised me and handed me everything that i was asking! we weren't that close so i really feel obligated to send her a card or something..
what do you think? i mean, i wanted to say thanks, but other than that, what else do i say??

"Thank you so much for doing me this favor. It was more helpful to me than you'll know, and I really appreciate the time you took to help me out. Thanks again!"

Well I would probably say something like this"Thank you so much for all you did for me! You have no idea how helpful this will be to me, I really needed that information and I appreciate you taking the time to help me with it! If you ever need anything let me know, I will help if I can! Thank you so much! God bless, your friend, etc....

Because you can never have enough friends, and if you were not close and she did this for you, maybe that is her way of trying to be your friend!
Best of Luck to you and God bless!

I'd just tell the person how important her help was and that I appreciate her effort a lot. I think that'd do.

Here's a great formula to use on thank you cards:

Dear X,
Thanks so much for _____. I really liked it (or wanted it, or needed it, etc.). [then add a sentence about how you will use it, or where you will use it, etc.]. Thanks again for thinking of me!

Love/Sincerely/Best Regards, Y

Just like say thanks for her help and leave it at that unless you want her to become a close friend, inwhich you could say that you would help her in her time of need or something.
