I've been having some of the classic signs of early pregnancy: sore, tender nipples, larger breasts, bloating towards the end of the day, tiredness, period pains for the past 3 weeks....

I missed a couple of pills through absent-mindedness during both my last couple of packs. My last period (4 weeks ago) started 2 days early and was very, very light - in fact it came now and again over the space of 5/6 days. usually i go to bed on the friday night and by sat morning i'm in full flow.

I've done 2 urine tests including one from the doctor and they are both negative. She said i have to see what happens this weekend (i'm due) and that its possible for me to still be pregnant with negative urine results and bleeding.

I'm going crazy - my body is telling me that somehting is not quite right.

Has anyone else experienced this and can you give me some advice - what happened to you?

Thanks
x

Well I'm 24 weeks pregnant at the moment.

I had all the early signs that you describe. I had period pains starting about two weeks before my period was due, sore boobs that didn't go down, nausea at night, was very weepy, emotional, also had some nasty stomach cramps (like I'd eaten something bad!) which I'd never had before.

My period sort of "started" on the day it was due but it was only a small amount of brown spotting which stopped the next day but my boobs stayed sore (they usually go down once my period starts). I was so sure something was up, like you said, as my body was telling me something was different.

I did a test the next day and got a positive. However it is not impossible to be pregnant and still get negative HPTs. The Tests detect the amount of HCG hormone in your urine and if the level of the hormone hasn't built up to a high enough level to be detected, the test will be negative. Its best to do the test first thing in the morning as the levels of HCG n your urine will be higher then.

A doctor's blood test is usually the best way to detect early pregnancy.

HPTs are usually considered accurate form the day your period is due. If you are not due till this weeked, that might be why they have been ocming up negative. The only thing you can do is wait and see. The symptoms you describe sound like early pregnancy but then its not unusual to get all these before your period anyway and if you missed a few pills it might be that your hormones are a bit up and down.

Its actually quite hard to get pregnant on the pill (despite what some people say) even if you miss a few, as the pill hormones are still goinmg to be active in your body, preventing ovulation, impairing the thickness of your womb lining and thickening your cervical mucus. So there are lots of barriers to pregnancy on the pill and just missing a few pills isn't necessarily going to remove them all. Some people who are not taking any pill or contraception try for years to get pregnant! Its not as easy as some people think it is.

I fell pregnant with my second child and bleed on and off for three months. I did pregnancy test and they came back negative and then when my period was due I did a test again and it was negative. The next morning I did one and it was positive. Try and wait till Monday if you can wait that long and when do one. I know you just want to know whats going on inside but two days wont make much difference. It also could be that as you missed some pills your body might be a little messed up and your period might be a few days late. I'm sure you will know soon. Good luck what ever happens.

This happened to me and i was pregnant, i had a really light period but after a week i felt sick and ill. As soon as i realised i took a test and it came back negative, i waited a couple of days then took another which was again negative but i knew i was pregnant. I had a scan and i was right but i miscarried (this doesnt mean it will happen to you) I reckon most women know when they are pregnant and your instincts are probably right. I knew, i dont know how i just did. Sometimes the pregnancy hormone just isnt high enough to detect early on. I hope you get what you want xx

ok it is very possible to have negitive urnie test because HCG which is the pregnancy hormone may not be strong enough to detect as to where a blood test would be more promising. As for the bleeding my obgyno told me NO amount of bleeding is good during a pregnancy if you spot every now and again for the first month or so of your pregnancy they call that implantion bleeding try going to this website www.about.com and key word is pregnancy i have used that site often when i was pregnant with both of my children. Good luck!

the bad news is that during my last pregnancy i had periods all the way thru! no home pregnancy tests then, and i was so thin that we didn't even realize i was pregnant until i was 7 mos. never got into maternity clothes at all. hell i wear a bigger size now than i did when i was nine mos. then. that's not saying much tho, when i went into labor i only weighed 109! here i am 30 yrs later and weigh 120! your body plays funny tricks on you all the time and some of them aren't funny at all. ... by the way, i'm 5'1" and my 'baby' is now 6'5" and weighs somewhere in the neighborhood of 250. now how in the world could that happen????talk about the tricks of fate!!! lol

Just observe first your body conditions after a few more days. Then try to get another set of laboratory tests. I think by that time, the result will be reliable. What you are feeling now might only be brought by your psychological state of mind. Fear is a another factor that makes u think something is wrong. Try to consult another doctor if u do not believe on the first result of your test.
