Is it just me or do most opt for answering silly questions like Chiken and egg or meaning of life when these have been asked dozens and dozens of times before. I'm only asking when questions about poor dying little girls go unanswered or genuine philosophy questions receive little response in my Q+A's?
Do you think people just answer for the points and get turned off REAL questions when they see a challenge? Or am i missing something here?

It truly depends on my frame of mind, mood, and level of awareness at the time. One time, I scrolled through five pages of drivel to find one question that was thought-provoking, challenging, or I hadn't seen before...so sometimes it comes down to persistence, and my available time.

I adore humor and love to laugh, so I like the silly questions. Especially when I am feeling a little frisky...or in a very light frame of mood. I have developed a fondness for the sarcastic quip.

My favorite questions are the esoteric ones...with no single, absolute answer..and one must give a great deal of thought, before attempting to answer it. Sometimes, it is a matter of opinion or challenging your creativity. Some questions simply require an informational answer.

I answer as many varied type questions I can find...I have many interests...and I love to broaden my horizons...some require only a quick response, while others are very important topics and I give it the time it deserves.

Some I do not agree with, but answer in an attempt to provide another point of view. Sometimes, my answers reflect factual circumstances, and it is misunderstood as agreement...when I am simply issuing a statement as it applies in the real world. Some people are simply seeking confirmation for an idea they do not make clear...or don't reveal until after the fact.

I care deeply about the world...but sometimes you have to lighten up. I do believe some people are here for the points...or as you so succinctly added: They are not up to intellectual challenges. Also...do be careful...I have been duped into answering questions very seriously...only to learn it was a hoax. I answered questions that made me cry while trying to reach out...and then the question disappears...and it makes you wonder.

Or you answer something with all your heart, surrounded by quick fluffy answers...and they choose an answer that is so blatantly bad, it almost hurts when you see it (as in, what is this?) Or they allow it to go to vote. A significant part of my answers are floating in cyberspace...waiting for a vote.

At other times, I simply didn't see it or it didn't come to my attention. I believe people are more caring than they let on...and do respond appropriately when they see it.

Great question

I find that Y!A is a great format for telling what mood I am in...sometimes I feel the need to get deep and meaningful, other times I want light and fluffy..

In a bad mood, I want to just criticise people for silly questions, bad english etc.,

In a playful mood I ask the most retarded questions I can think of and enjoy getting battered by the rest of the web.

I do enjoy (in the right mood) surfing around for strange questions on a million subjects and learning what people say about it...I will go and check their results on the web to verify it too....I guess that is the pub quiz geek in me coming out...

So Y!A has become a psychological barameter for me...

I like the questions that make me think. Some of them may not really even have an answer. These are the best questions, in my opinion, because they require an opinion that can't be backed up bu cold, hard facts. For questions with no absolute answer, they require you to put yourself out there on the line. Not many people are willing to do that.

I just go through the list of questions on the front page (like everyone else). If I see a funny question I will respond with a hilarious answer seeing god made me unbelievably witty, but if I happen to see a question I know something about I will answer that too.

I think people answer questions that interest them. Sometimes important, sometimes silly. I personally get turned off when the question gets too preachy. Does the asker really want to know what other people think, or is he just using this page as a soapbox?

I answer both and prefer a challenge, but we live in a cynical and skeptical world and many do not feel the same. That's okay though. Do what you do and don't worry about anyone else.

Personally, I answer questions that catch my eye. Could be profound, shallow, stupid, intelligent – anything I think I'll have enjoy answering.

And actually, providing a good answer to a lousy question is often more of a challenge than answering a good one.

Today we get too many dying children quetions. As to deep thought quetions; meaning of life, zen of a millionare, thoughts of living. Old stuff. In the long run,, who cares. Live your own life, share time with family, friends. You mess up, fix it; if not take responsiblity for it.

some time people answer just for the points ( the answers in this case are likely short . )
personally i answer questions which i feel interesting what ever be the class. be it political , religion , physics...
depends on the person's mood when he answer. questions which are important to one person may not appeal to another .
