i think kids want to be adults to early now, they are'nt happy with simple things anymore. My kids just want the latest gadgets!I give in to them because that way at least they are with me and not getting hurt or into trouble, that part is due to the society we live in.Sad but true

I moved to Spain to give my children a childhood. It starts right at the top ,the government are pushing education ,education education,so now are kids are being tested and pushed from the moment they enter school.Exams that can decide there future begin when they are 7,this leads parents to be paranoid that either they are failing or ther kids are so they push harder.so kids are forced to buckle down and end up forgeting the fun of imagination and play.
Then we have the media in the uk,who see it as there job to make everyone as paranoid as they can about everything from letting your kids out to how to feed, cloth and treat them.It is stiffeling for adults, what chance have the kids got?

I do. I hear parents, particularly mothers, who are completely paranoid about their children being abducted, abused etc. And because of this their children can't act like children anymore.
Protect our children, of course, it's the least they deserve but let's not rob them of their innocence. Children are in no more danger than they were in the 70's (in fact, they are safer) and if, god forbids, children are the victims of abuse, then in the vast majority of the cases it is somebody they know, not the stranger walking down the street.

I take it you are not an English teacher!!
It is peer pressure that is all, generally they are maturing earlier, I don't think it is because they are not allowed to be children, do you have a problem with it?

One of the biggest problems has been the elimination of recess.
Increasingly, school districts and whole states are taking recess out of the public school curriculum.
It's a crime.
