I often wonndered it, I saw him in an epasode of-
Spiderman vs the red skull epasode
and
X-men wolverine and Captain america in the wepon x programme.
But I did'nt catch his name, can anyone tell me?

I meant the story behind him and the avengers I all ready knew he was/ is a captain, please tell me about it.
Ex. Is he the founder, one who started the gang, I need more info there must be a story behind it.

captain americas identity is steve rogers he is the leader of the avengers. he use to be from ww2, the avengers discovered his body frozen, he got revive and because of his ability to be a good leader of combat he bacame the new leader of the avengers after iron man

There has been more than one Captain America. The original (and current) CA is Steve Rogers. While he was frozen in an iceberg, there was another guy running around (with the Defenders, I think) who was using an ordinary steel shield, not the crazy adamantium thing. Then (during the time that Marvel was afraid they might lose some of the characters to the artists and writers, through a lawsuit) they had a storyline where the Federal Government decided that Steve Rogers was being insubordinate and (since they were the ones that gave him the costume and shield and he was technically in the US Army) they stripped him of the CA role and gave it to another guy, who used to be the Super Patriot. Steve became "The Captain" for a while. Sort of like the guy who originally played the Lone Ranger now just wearing shades instead of a mask and calling himself "The Ranger". Captain America is Steve Rogers. Subjected to steroid treatment, and other experiments, he went from frail nobody to super-strong and skilled Captain America. During WWII he and Bucky, his sidekick, were trying to disable a plane loaded with explosive when it went off, killing Bucky, and dropping Captain into the icy water below, freezing him.
In the Modern day, Loki was causing problems, taking control of The Hulk. The other heroes gathered and formed the Avengers alongside Hulk to protect against other threats that were too much for any of them. Hulk soon after departed and eventually, Captain America's frozen body was discovered and thawed out, and Steve took his place as leader of the team.

the avengers where formed to fight the hulk with 4 members (Thor, iron man, ant man and wasp). they soon found cap floating in a chunk of ice in the ocean. he became the first non founding member to join (thou most consider him a founder) and made the team whole.
