No he was apparently emailing a professor and confessed in one of the mails. The professor then went to the cops with the information. According to reports that I have read, the childs mother knew that there was going to be an arrest soon. She hinted to this just before her death.

Not enough information has been reported just yet, but the current story is that the Ramsey girl's "suspected" or "alleged" killer was arrested by Thai police acting on cooperation with US investigations. Rumor has it that the Thai police arrested him first for some sex crime but I don't think it's been verified yet.
However, again all they have is the "confession" from this obviously unstable man, but no evidence to link him. So the case is far from being solved.
