Well, Stan isn't behind the decision making regarding the movie plots, he's basically just a spokesman anymore. The first two Spidey movies took liberties with a lot of things about the Spider-Man comic book stories, and the same will happen with following Spidey movies. However, I don't mind some of the changes, and really, it's not too easy to bring the actual full out storylines to the silver screen, given all the details, so the writers have to "water down" and tweek a lot of things, case in point being Venom and Gwen Stacey. O.K., I am not too keen on Venom, but you do have a point about Gwen Stacey, yet, it is something true believers will have to tolerate, because, as you know, Stacey was there a long, long time before Venom was ever a concept. I am still excited about Spidey 3, but try to be open about all of this, as I have, and it has helped me enjoy the movies better because of it. Most of the Superhero movies fall far from the comic books, but at least with the Spidey movies, some of the changes have been positive, but that's just me...........

I have one answer to this. X Men 3. WTF? it's understandable to take liberties but there's some times when the sreen writers have to realize there's a fine line between taking liberties for screen adaption and just utterly screwing up a great character, or a great plot line. Case in point being the Phoenix plot line in X 3, Why did they even bother? it's too vast and complex to ever be close on the silver screen. The Phoenix story by itself would be as long as Titanic or Brave Heart. Some characters, just don't need to see the silver screen, either out of respect for their complexity, or the fact that they've long since passed on in a comic's story. X 3 would have been just as good without the Phoenix, whether in its retarded adpted for a movie form or true to the original, I believe the same would hold true for the next Spider Man movie with Gwen Stacey. I'm sure ol' Stan has given up on it all at this point since it's not really in his hands anyway. Personally I wouldn't care either if some one did their own twist on a story I told, imatation is the greatest form of flattery. So who cares if Gwen Stacey is in the next movie, who cares that X 3 marred the Phoenix character? No one but us fanboys, film doesn't cater to us, it's for movie goers, not comic readers, but hey if we like it too than more money in their pockets. They'll compromise to appease us but eventually, (X 3) they'll make enough off the previous movies to do whatever they want, hence the point of making sequals. So get over it, they've made enough and now they'll make a movie as they see fit, not just for fanboys.

Well... Gwen Stacey also died in Ultimate spidey's series. I guess they have to throw her into the movies sooner or later because she is such an important figure in Peter Parker's life. Stan has no say whatsoever, he is just a figurehead nowadays. I'd actually be more interested in seeing Felicia Hardy (Black Cat).

I do not agree with you. Gwen Stacey was murdered by the Green Goblin and they are probably just setting up that entire story line where she will be murdeed on the silver screen.
