Put simply, a turbo-charger allows more air and gasoline to enter the cylinder, in order to create a stronger explosion, therefore creating more power for your car.

What creates an explosion in a cylinder is air mixed with gasoline....the sparkplug creates a spark which then makes the mixture explode and that makes the piston move which is what transmits the power to the car.

A turbo-charger usually only works after a certain amount of revolutions, but what it does is it compresses air that goes into the cylinder, allowing for must gasoline to enter the cylinder, allowing for a bigger explosion.

turbro chargers usually use the exhaust coming out of the engine to spin a turbine, which compresses the air.

you have a mustang GT...lucky man

Hey there, you got one of my all time dream cars, but unfortunately, its not allowed in my country. =(

Anyway, a turbo charger simply is a air turbine (windmill) which as you do hard acceleration, or double tapping of your accelerator, or flooring your accelerator (depends on the customization of the vehicle and turbo charger) provides a boost of power, (rpm, torque, horsepower), note that we all say power, not speed.

Your turbo charger, could for e.g be useful when doing overtakings, getting out of a stuck situation, like in mud or gravel (though i'd think you'd be insane to take a mustang GT off road =P), and situations which requires your car to have that 'boost' just for a few seconds. Think of it this way, its a very basic form of Nitrious Oxide, the thing that you see in The fast and the furious, or NOS.

Hope that helps =)

And don't worry about over heating, this little devil booster, has its own cooler intake system.

Well considering that you'd have to buy the WHOLE kit and spend thousands on it. You would notive a big jump in performance! Not to mention the amount of gas that your Stang will eat. Supers and Turbos aren't everything though. I'd recommend big brakes, wheels, better tires, upgrade some suspension parts as well. It's nice to go fast, but sometimes it's nicer to be able to stop!

Turbochargers allow an engine to burn more fuel and air by packing more into the existing cylinders. A turbo can significantly boost an engine's horsepower without significantly increasing its weight.

sacrifice more gas for horsepower. and remember dont go cheap on the turbo, u want to kill as much gas as u can.
