If the game is tomorrow surely they can find an extra man by then!
Your side should offer to provide a fielder, who would usually field in the outfield i.e. not as wicketkeeper or slip. But etiquette does not require you to offer them a batsman. If you were to be generous enough to do this, the loaned batsman should go in last. Also, he should act as a runner at the non-striking end, i.e. if the last opposition batsman scored a single he should return to the other end to face the next ball. But basically, if the opponents are a man down then tough, just as it is tough if they lose a man to injury or illness during the match.

This is quite a common tradition, and often happens especially if one side has 12 or more. Sometimes, they extra will only field for the side with less than 11, but if both captains are happy, why not bat - it will help make it a fair match. Remember, cricket is still supposed to be a gentleman's game.
Only, don't do it if you don't feel like you can be fair and make a go of batting for them, but if you think you can, go for it.

Nice gesture mate but what would you team-mates think? I don't know what league you are playing in or the rules there but If they are a man down they wear it I am afraid. Sure one of your guys can field for them when they are in the field, but not bat for them.
All the best and that is a nice offer

No. Find a random person on the street and make them play for their team. Then, take advantage of their worst player. If he bowls, hit every delivery for a six and if he bats, get him out on the first ball.

Hey man i know it shows good sportsmanship and stuff but common if you are playing for a league or a clb i mean think about it if you score good runs ur team would not be pleased.....and i don't think the otehr team is going to put that in your records and if you don't bat well the other team is going to think he did it to make his team win....

Seriously ... No, it's not a good idea. If they can't get a full side, it's not your problem although etiquette would suggest you offer a player to field for them (not one of the better players though!)
As for offering to become homosexual for the afternoon, I guess they wouldn't like it in the showers afterwards!

What a stupid question.
I've played and umpired cricket matches for nearly 40 years.
It used to be a gentlemans game - not now.
