Brazil Opens First Major Biodiesel Refinery
26 March 2005
AFP. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva inaugurated the country’s first major biodiesel refinery last week.
The Soyminas plant will produce up to 3.2 million gallons (about 10,000 tonnes) of biodiesel per year.
“In the near future, petroleum will not be the reason for war, or for an oil-consuming country to invade an oil producer,” Lula said as he opened the Soyminas plant in the southeastern state of Minas Gerais.
”We are showing the world that it is possible to create a fuel from renewable resources,“ he said.

Probably never. Big Oil wants us to believe the "Peak Oil" arguments, but there is much evidence to support the contention that there is a lot more oil than the large oil companies want us to believe. Will we ever wake up? Unlikely. Will we have more oil wars? Probably. You can read a decent article that summarizes the argument that there is much more oil than the oil companies say there is at www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=47738. You can also google "peak oil hoax" or something similiar and at least expose yourself to a very different view than the news media is giving us.

I've talkied to some guys in the oil business and best guesses run up to about 2050, so we still have a little time on our hands, but the clock is ticking.

================================
DO NOT FORGET THAT ALL OF THESE DOOM AND GLOOM FORECASTS, FOR NATURAL RESOURCE DEPLETION, SIMPLY TAKE INTO ACCOUNT SOURCES THAT ARE CURRENTLY ECONOMICALLY VIABLE
Therefore as we continue to deplete current resources and prices creep up (or rocket up) with a lapse in supply, it suddenly becomes economically viable to tap into less-accessible (and therefore more costly to develop) sources for crude oil....
I do no deny that the rate of extraction is insanely high and something needs to be done NOW, but I am suggesting that the perception that we have only a matter of decades until resources are wholly depleted is completely nonsensical, Malthusian Doom and Gloom if you like.....
decreased supply ==> increased prices ==> further extraction
Thank you for reading

Never, but it will get too expensive too soon.
Technology keeps advancing and their many alternatives, but are not cheep enough yet.
And political forces. Like the oil companies will want us to use oil for ever because they will make more and more profits.
Then theirs Joe consumer that want to drive his SUV.
And then we will got to war so we can drive our SUV? We are oppressors or what.
