It's because some people are not content to merely not answer questions that they find overly personal - they want to take it that one step further and tell you not to even ask. Freedom of speech means freedom to ask whatever you like. If people don't like the questions, they don't have to answer them.

It's a personal question... if you don't have any money, it becomes a very sensitive topic. Had a friend who was flat out broke for the last 2 years. I lent her thousands of dollars to help her support her kids, and it was always touchy, becasue it hurt her pride but she had to take it to live. Now that she has a good job, she is much less sensitive.

Because there is no such thing as having the "right" amount of money. Whatever your income or wealth - there will be others who think it is too much or too little.

Provided, of course, you are not Bill Gates or someone about to die from starvation!

Many People consider their money situation "Their Business" and think its not polite to ask about it, they don't like to discuss how well or not well off they are.
Its similer to asking about their sex life, again many will tell you where to go.

It's still none of your damn business.
It's rude to ask people that, get a clue. Why do you keep asking the same question when you keep getting the same type of answers?

money is often tied with one's earning capabilities. and that in turn, becomes pride. so its always too personal to discuss about money, whether one has or not.
