POLITICIAN USUALLY SPENDS SO MUCH MONEY WHEN RUNNING FOR A POSITION. HOWEVER, FINANCIAL INTEREST ON THE POSITION IS NOT EVEN ENOUGH TO REIMBURSE THEIR EXPENSES.

The likelihood is that these politicians in most circumstances, know how to make their position and status pay them in the long run. Let's face it Al Gore won't be forgotten, neither will John Kerry, etc, etc. They use thier position to broker deals for members of thier families, friends, and in some cases just for favors. They also gain an in-depth knowledge, of things that wll come into being in the next 20 years or so especially new technology or practices etc. Would you not like to be in that position?

Simple what's in it for them. For the most part you have a gang of lawyers who can change a law which in the future could have unbelievable benefits for themselves and their cronies. Pretty much it is insider trading done without any consequences. It is why the rich stay rich. Greed it seems is a great motivator for many people. Once they have greed then they want power. F*ck em' all.
