If I were you Brits I would be appalled from the disrespect of our American NEOCONS to your Tony Blair with George Bush. I don't like it, but I'm a Democrat from the opposite party. I see so many times where Tony Blair has had to talk for Bush in press conference because he so ignorant and racist with Bush's comments. I don't feel that trying to be a hard azz red neck is necessary when your the President of a Nation. I don't see Tony Blair acting in this manner to get his positions across, and I commend him for that as a leader. George Bush and Dick Cheney are our problems, and hopefully America can suppress this internal infestation, and bring our great Nation back to a Nation of Democracy instead of Fascism, that Americans feel to be smothered under now. Thanks for the question and sorry for my rant, good day to you.

Definitely not. I think the problem is England has now adopted the no win, no fee Legal system. This means that nobody can get anything done for fear of being sued. Instead of suing the local council fdor tripping over a loose paving slab, why not just look where you are going instead. I think no win no fee should be abolished as it was designed foir people that need to read the "caution hot" warnings on coffee cups. Such people should be exterminated as they are wasting precious oxygen and making fat cat lawyers even fatter.

Actually I find the phrase Nanny State worrying in itself as it is just a mask for POLICE STATE which is what Britain is rapidly becoming. Why should our lives be ruled by those who think they know better? Are we too stupid to decide for ourselves?

This is all about power and nothing about caring - if you want to be a resource for the rich and powerful carry on...

as with other answer there are certain things that ought to be nannied, however, there are also many things which should not, as this defeats the object of having freedom of speech and a democracy.

soon we could end up being in just as much of a mess as many 'communist' countries, that is nearing dictatorship.

this is not a question that can just be answered with a simple yes or no in my eyes, as what do we do if a conservative government was to come to power, even though new labour policies are as Thatcher's policies were nearly 20 years ago......

John Prescott has given vent to his private feelings about the Bush presidency, summing up George Bush's administration in a single word: CRAP

The Deputy Prime Minister's condemnation of President Bush and his approach to the Middle East could cause a diplomatic row but it will please Labour MPs who are furious about Tony Blair's backing of the United States over the bombing of Lebanon.

The remark is said to have been made at a private meeting in Mr Prescott's Whitehall office on Tuesday with Muslim MPs and other Labour MPs with constituencies representing large Muslim communities. Muslim MPs wanted to press home their objections to British foreign policy and discuss ways of improving relations with the Muslim communities.

Many Labour MPs have been infuriated by the spectacle of Mr Bush and Mr Blair jointly supporting the Israeli action. The Labour MPs went to see Mr Prescott to lodge their criticism of the Government's foreign policy and some said last night that they would be delighted if he did break ranks over the Bush administration following the outcry at the bombing of the Lebanon.

An intrusive state is necessary in certain situations - they stopped domestic abuse and marital rape, for example. However, I think there is a limit which must also be respected. I would not want our country to be a totalitarian state.
