Plenty of people still care about correct spelling. The trouble is, the word "correct" is a tricky thing these days to pin down (and this answer is only for the English language; I can't say much about other languages). :)

Every living language on the planet changes, some more slowly than others. France has a governmental body that tries to keep the language completely static and unchanging. They use legislation and money. They aren't succeeding so well. America has some people who also want to keep the English language of America the same, but most Americans usually reject the idea. Regardless of the politics of it, we can't really stop the language from changing. If a word's spelling, or a person's concern for spelling it "correctly" happen to change, no one can stop it. As long as a person uses a word with a particular spelling, and another person happens to know what the first person meant, then the spelling has done its job. It is legitimate and "correct." Practically speaking, it doesn't matter if anyone else thinks the spelling is right or not. The language has worked; the act of communication has taken place. And if enough people repeat the same (new) spelling of the word, or abbreviation of the word (r u 2?), then it catches on and becomes official simply because enough people use it.

Or, put another way, the ones who bother looking it up in the dictionary are in the minority and always have been. :)

The bonus that Children Learning Reading program  has over a complete word recognition learning class is so it can show it's techniques simply speaking and satisfying  incremental steps.
With Children Learning Reading program you and your youngster will have the ability to spend enjoyable time together while they learn how to read. No requiring your child to sit through dull ‘check marathons ', the classes are so small they are easy to fit in to your day-to-day routine. As long as you can understand what has been written, does it really matter that someone finds it hard to spell things. Not every one is perfect and at least they try.

Believe me, they don't! Neither my 20-yr old nor my 12-yr old ever had their spelling corrected at school! Despite my best (and ongoing) efforts, they are lousy spellers. And they don't care! I would love to see the spelling on the exam papers of some of these so-called geniuses that get grade 'A' for 'A' levels these days!

i do, I think its terrible that the english language is butchered so badly. The thing that makes it worse, is that kids are learning to spell like that and pretty soon the traditional ways of spelling things will go right out the window and everyone will be spelling with abbreviations or phonetically.

They have gotten lazy and don't realize that spell check, if they use it, only tells them that it IS a word, not that it is the right one.

Look at the fine example set by our Presidunce.
