You're right, but it's such an emotional thing that I did find myself welling up, much to my embarassment, since my girlfriend was there. That level of commitment and love was very emotional.

I was on a date with my girlfriend (at the time) and she cried at least once. I almost cried near the end, during the part where she started to not remember him and she began yelling and the people came in to help her. I had to FIGHT to hold back the tears. LOL. I don't find any part of "The Notebook" depressing. Some parts are sad, and some parts are extremely romantic. Over all, it is one of the most beautiful movies ever made.

like a baby..i thought it was the best heart felt TRUE LOVE movie I had ever seen...Highly Rated in my book!!!
Plot Summary for
The Notebook (2004)
The movie focuses on an old man reading a story to an old woman in a nursing home. The story he reads follows two young lovers named Allie Hamilton and Noah Calhoun, who meet one evening at a carnival. But they are separated by Allie's parents who dissaprove of Noah's unwealthy family, and move Allie away. After waiting for Noah to write her for several years, Allie meets and gets engaged to a handsome young soldier named Lon. Allie, then, with her love for Noah still alive, stops by Noah's 200-year-old home that he restored for her, "to see if he's okay". It is evident that they still have feelings for each other, and Allie has to choose between her fiancé and her first love.

I have yet to watch that movie, even though my Mom brought me her DVD player and a copy of The Notebook.
However. my Mom, aunt and my male friend all said they cried during The Notebook.

Yes, I admit it I cried... I wouldn't say depressing, but more so heart-felt and sweet. There definitely were some sad parts throughout the movie though.

Bucketloads. Very sad. I love James Garner and the actress that played the old lady too.

I tried but I couldn't. I had expected so much out of this movie....
The book was crappy too. Both the movie and the book are way overrated. It didn't touch my heart at all.
