Lars Ulrich is from denmark
Thor Heyerdal (norwegian)
Johan Olav Koss (norwegian)
Edvard Grieg (norwegian)
Ness (father and son) both well known, son is dead he wa married to Diana Ross)

Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen. The Norwegian explorer who was the first to reach the South Pole, the first to make a ship voyage through the Northwest Passage, and one of the first to cross the Arctic by air. Johan Olav Koss is second, in my book.
The Norwegians themselves did have a poll, to select the 'Store Norske' in 2005. Nor Amundsen or Edvard Grieg made it to the final ten, King Olaf the Fifth won it. Einar Gerhardsen and Erik Bye were the runners up. Who, you may ask? For once, I don't know.
