and why? There is absolutely nothing on cnn, msnbc, headline news, or fox about anything going on in more important areas of the world (hint>>the middle east) than some child rapist in Thailand, the world capitol of child prostitutes. maybe it's just a coincidence that she was a rich, white popular child. seems to me to be disproportionate to the # of children raped and killed around the world to be talking about her this much 10 yrs later when they capture the person.

merigold00--but why did it capture the nation's attention in the first place? weren't there thousands of others just like her that year? and to have clues turn up 10 years later is great and all, but it does happen. watch cop shows on a and e. and why can't i watch the freaking news? (by news i DON'T mean a 10yr old murder)

sparky2003-good points. alot of moms and dads should be ashamed for how they dress up their children, or even how they let their children dress when they're 13 (and by letting them stay up all night asking perverted questions on yahoo answers). and then they get pissed because their child has to raise a kid instead of going to college.

my cousin was murdered and possible raped but before her killer could be brought to justice hurricane Katrina came and wiped away all evidence. so to answer your question, no. yes jeanbenet was young and its awful that it happened to her but my cousin was 14 and i dont see anyone goin on a world wide search for her murderer. everyday a child is raped and/or murdered and about half of the criminals are never brought to justice for what ever reason. as for cnn, msnbc, headline news, and fox...people love a good story, especially the press.

Although her death was tragic, I agree with you. There are many children raped and killed each day but only the rich and famous get the attention!
My feelings are: Her parents said all those years"they did not kill her" but look at the way they dressed her,put make up on her that made her look years older than a 6 year old child looks. And then expose her to a world full of perverts. Did they not know that is the sort of things that those perverts look for? To me,they are as guilty as the guy that did kill her

No one is saying she is the only child murder of importance, but it was a case that caught the nation's attention, and to have some clues turn up 10 years later is pretty amazing...

2000 + missing children in CA.
Pathetic fanaticism from socially delinquent people as a symbol of being good while they slink around causing trouble so their psychotic minds can issue delusions of grandeur in the place of personal failure is irresistible.
Sensational journalism is also that moment in the sun. They brag about covering those stories and its great for the resume' at promotion time.

JonBenet wasnt the ONLY child tt existed in this world. everyday children are raped/murdered, but so? only famous and beautiful ppl can get attention. of course, its unfair, but isnt this the world we live in?
