Did any of the neighbouring countries, ie: Egypt,Syria go on full military alert. Were troops moved closer to the Israeli border or other types of mobilisation underway. My impression is they did nothing perhaps fearing retaliation from Israel. What actually was the situation?

Egypt did nothing to increase any troop alert levels or mobilization.

Syria had a 100% recall of it's military forces (conventional) but units remained at their barracks.

Syrian commando's conducted small unit training and weapons marksmanship training.

Jordan did not go on military alert. The Royal Jordanian Air force was alerted and prepared to send logistical support to Lebanon.

Nothing, Syria threw out a bunch of threats. saying mess like if you try to mess with us we will bring out all forces. but Israel had no intentions of hurting anyone but Hezbollah. and which they started the whole thing by kidnapping two soldiers. Think about what would happen if Mexico had captured two U.S. soldiers guarding the border?
