There are no weaknesses to Shell or BP or CNOOC. Every strategy is planned with minute care, researched by experts, real experts...geologists, lawyers, chemists, engineers, and even roustabouts are selected from the best. Each company requires the most up to date equipment, training, certification and documentation. Equipment is selected worldwide. An oil rig costs about 200 million dollars and there is no room for error. Our rigs off of Hai Nan island are a major investment that are expected to endure typhoons and are capable of being operated by secure facilities on land. Strength is probably about 30 or 40 billion dollars and a work force of about 10,000 people. I work for CNOOC (China Offshore Oil Company). I see men being recertified daily for safety, fire fighting, escape from helicopters, ESD (Emergency ShutDown) as well as the various alarm systems for Hydrogen Sulfide, etc. These are not amateurs, just professionals and the best in the world.
