people are just predjudice against other for different reasons, being fat or of a different race are the most common, people do this because they have nothing better to do than trying to find flaws in other people when all they are doing is hiding their own.

Larger people have always been discriminated against only peer pressure and media cover was no so widely available and you did not get to see or hear about it.
It is only recently since the introduction of fast foods and the convince foods sold worldwide that this issue has hit the headlines.
During the the first and second world war people where slimmer and the life style was hard but once rationing ended things became available.
Most families cooked and it was produce that came from the land and not prepacked ready meals.
As children we stayed slimmer and healthier by recent research!
Larger people are not always large due to over eating there are medical conditions so please do not judge everyone who is larger and pigeon hole them into over eaters there are so many other factors.
I grew up getting my peas from the farms fruit, but then the change progress open a Pandora's box everything now is pre packet full of ingredients that makes my hair stand on end is it a wonder we have become larger.
As a nation we got bigger but pick up any magazine and what do you see size 2 woman larger people are not wanted.
Without a doubt health issues arise for the larger person so now along with smoking comes the negative reactions.
Then why is it we are now told curves are back and these are often found on larger woman! if you are on the unhealthy side of being large then it is your decision to change it,I have a Spanish mother so my figure is full, a good bust a waist and hips but this is consider large.
I smile because I exercise keep healthy in my foods and do not obsess about being thin.
Beauty is within the person not the shell they leave behind.

People are usually very sympathetic towards anoerexics etc. While they accept that under eating is a sympton of a mental illness, over eating is simply gluttony.
Until we realise that overweight people have mental issues - no one actually wants to be fat - and give them the help they need, we will always have fat people.
I've stopped dieting - I found it was the feeling of being deprived that made me overeat. I'm still overweight, but much happier than when I am so obsessed with food. If I die young, well, then that frees the NHS for those thinner people who live longer. It all works out in the end.

Afraid to say to those that think it, esp daniel d, but not everyone is fat because they did it to themselves. Many people are blighted with illness and would love to live in a thinner body but can't.
Unfortunately because of the media frenzy to try and portray the perfect female body as being stick thin (who knows how much air brushing goes on??) we now live with a generation of men who think satisfaction with a woman will only come in a size 10 or smaller package. Thankfully I am married to a real man who can see beyond the rather larger than it used to be belly purely because he loves me with all his heart, I am still emotionally the same person he fell in love with and he knows that producing 3 gorgeous children comes with a price. Things will never be the same again!
I know this is going slightly away from the actual question but I know people will look at me and see me as fat even tho I am not too much bigger than the national average but it is sadly true that too many go on first impressions and potentially miss out on incredible people just because they don't conform to media's portrayal beauty.

There is NOTHING wrong with discrmination. If there is a single guy in the entire world that you find unattractive, then YOU are "guility" of disciminiation.
Fat is naturally ugly, and you can't force people by political pressure to accept fatsos. If you do accept them, and buy into "fat is beautiful," then they'll never change and you'll wind up harming their health.
Get the kids off of the computer and onto the basketball court or football field. Reinstate recess and phys-ed in the school, and drop the fear that one child's feelings will be hurt because he can't even do 10 pushups.
What a disgrace! I wish that we could amend the Constitution to affirm that the definintion of fat is UGLY!

i've seen fat women who are very pretty facially, and they have a billion friends. That shows that beauty is all about the face, not the body.
Seriously though. When someone is fat, that shows they don't care about their body. When someone doesn't think that the person doesn't care about their body, that is a turn-off. Especially if the girl is pretty. She could be a total supermodel if she slimmed down. It also shows that maybe there's a self-esteem issue there, too. Sometimes a self-esteem issue may mean a mental illness, which is a red flag alert to most people.
Society is a tough judge.

It's to do with self-respect and health. It's not good for you to be fat, and it displays a lack of self-control which most people find difficult to understand. Preconceived ideas of beauty fall to the ground when you look at someone like Dawn French who's big and beautiful, but I don't think she'll live as long as someone who isn't as fat as she is.
I find it particularly disgusting that, as was in the news recently, there are more obese people in the world than there are those who don't have enough to eat.

Once discrimination against smokers became acceptable it was only a matter of time before other unhealthy lifestyles became targets too.
Fat people, unfit people, people who drink..the list will expand. Once we started down this road it was the only logical conclusion.
There will be complaints about healthcare costs, excess baggage costs being paid by thin people when fat people pay the same seat cost and so on. Get used to it, it will get worse.

Because the PC brigade and government are brushing everything else under the carpet and finding something else to cover it up with, then they wonder why so many kids in the world are suffering with eating disorders like anorexia and bulimia, people fear what they don't understand and make the ones it affects suffer for it, one wonders what would happen if we all had blond hair, blue eyes, weighed 9 stone and acted like robotic zombies just so WE all fit into society, if we listened to what we were supposed to be like, instead of been happy with what we like, it would be an even more miserable world to live in, sorry but I am happy in the skin I'm in and you only get one shot at this life so make the most of it and to hell with what others think of me.

Being obese has always been a bad thing. People are being discriminated against so as to provide them with the social incentive to lose weight. So if this can spur them on to maintaining a healthier weight, discrimination is actually good for them.
