The beauty of Americans is that it's not really a race of people. Not in the way that say The people of Italy are all italians and share a strong roman herritage. Americans are really too diverse to have any "race" or collective herritage besides what has happened in the past 3 centuries. Being an American is about an ideal. A really lofty one, but it's something that anyone can be and embrace.
Americans, though villanized in the global media tend to be very nice and very helpful people. They are proud and hard working people. Anyone who believes in a hard day's work and the rights of the individual can usually get along pretty happily here.
Well, if you ignore the Xenophobes.

Yes, I would say the majority of Americans are a nice race of people. Yes, you can be an American; that's the great thing about this country. We accept anyone who wants to be here and contribute to society.

Yes, but don't think of America's as a particular race. We are from every race and culture. America is a melding of all culture.
Being an American is not necessarily a birth right, it is a choice. America is an idea, not just a place. If you believe in freedom and choice you are already an American in spirit, no matter where you happen to live.

A lot of Americans are nice kind people, but a lot aren't. You can be a good person if you choose to live that way. I guarantee at least you will lead a much happier life - as far as becoming an American come on over we could use more nice people who appreciate our country.

Americans, just like everyone else have their good and bad days. There isn't any difference to them than say Londoners.
If you want to be one then you would have to be born there. Naturalised citizens are like converts of anything, they bring their own background to the pot.

We are divided in many ways. I lived in Japan for 4 years though, and they were very nice as a whole. Really good manners. Yea, you can be one of us, but you have to pass a test and pay taxes.
