I know I wasn't. I was the "freaky chick", the "devil worshipper" because I wore black, or colorful dresses to school. I have always only been able to be me, nothing else. That seems to intimidate the typical high schooler. I never let it get to me, but I'm glad I never have to go back. I just wanted to see how many people actually were popular because a lot of teens on here seem to put a lot of stock into being popular, and it just isn't all it's cracked up to be. More to say, but tired of typing. Moral: FU** all you preppy popular people who have to put others down to make yourself feel better. Karma will get you in the end. ;)

I've been both and I totally agree with you. In high school I was a nerd, and the popular kids made fun of me. I was short and skinny, had a big nose, wore glasses and funny clothes and had bad acne. I just did my own thing and didn't think a lot of what people thought of me. But nonetheless I thought being popular looked really glamorous and fun and always regretted that I wasn't in the popular group.

But then after I graduated I bulked up, I grew a few inches, had my nose corrected, got contacts and nicer clothes and went to a dermatologist. People started to react much differently to me in college based on how my appearance had changed. I was an elected member of the student government, I served as president of two clubs and had a very active social life. Interestingly though my new "popular" life came with a lot of drama that I wasn't used to experiencing. I found a lot of popular people to be superficial, two-faced, self-centered and inconsiderate. Even though I was popular, I had many relationships with people who greatly hurt me.

I just recently graduated college, and I wish I could return to that time before I'd been popular when I looked different and got made fun of, but hadn't yet suffered the drama associated with being popular.

I was popular up until I hit high school, then I learned how mean some people can really be! The stuck up preppy beaches made fun of me for being a "farm girl". I hated them so much. They were the reason I never joined the track team, there was no way I was going to go that close them to be on a team with them so that I might accidentally become labeled as one of them!!!
Even my best friend since 2nd grade sided with them, talk about not being able to just be yourself!

At least most people in the "real world" aren't quite so crazy, most of the time anyway!

In my high school the so called "freaky devil worshipers" or whatever stereotype was used to describe them seemed to be quite popular in a non -traditional sense, and a lot actually resented, and expected most ppl in our school to hate them bc the majority of the kids in that group were white, and our school was about 85% black/puerto rican which their style (for the most part) was on the opposite end of the spectrum. As far as I was, kind of shy, kept to myself generally, but was invovled in a few clubs (mostly charity/academic) and concentrated on my studies.

Also I hope no one takes offense to this answer I am not generalizing just refering back to personal experience.

i was but not by choice. just cause i was out for sports it used to make me mad that they thought i was shallow. i had my freinds that liked me for me.
don't worry honey i see the people that was popular all the time and most can't handle the real life. i know 2 that after high school they tried to commit suicide becuse they feel lost with out all the fake people around them. they had it to easy in school now life is chewing them up. i think they forget the real world is full of expreppies. so they r not special anymore.

I got along with everyone, i didn't feel like i had to change to be accepted and thats why i think ppl liked me coz i was myself. Schools in the u.k are more accepting of ppl's differences so everyone gets along and you don't get so many bitches b/c everyone is considered equal. All except the chavs and snobs in school as they usually think they're better than everyone and no one likes them.
