G'day They Call Me Cool in my school,
Thank you for your question.
You should always learn from the lessons of history. Unfortunately, different people draw different conclusions about its lessons.
Regards

Odd question. Just what did the Trojan War have to do with our leaders spreading democracy throughout the world?
And as for the possibility that wars cease to be fought because powerful nations stop fighting them, do you know any history at all?
World War II and its 44 million allied dead was the direct result of the activities of people who so believed in Peace that Great Britain, France, and the U.S. REFUSED to go to war with Nazi Germany while it could still be easily defeated.
Hitler used violence within Germany, annexed Austria and invaded Czechoslovakia and still people like you spewed forth "we are modern people, we are better, we will not be led to war by our leaders". But in the end, when the bombs started falling on THEM and not their neighbors, they screamed and cried for protection!
Terri M. Are your eyes and ears closed? War is not always the result of things like money and power, since the prophet mohammed first raised armies to slaughter his neighbors, almost every war fought on this earth has had its cause in one thing...just as do 9 of 10 of the present conflicts in the world...the cause is the Islamic "faith" and the textual commands in the Koran to make war on, subjugate, enslave, and destroy the infidel.
And every decent human being on earth, just as those who finally united to fight Hitler, is an infidel.

Plenty to learn but sadly ... Nobody wiull lean anyhting, certainly not those who decide to go to war! You're absolutely right of course, no one should die and democracy should be democratic, take into account the people's wishes and avoid killing people. O and i don't know if you know but there was a poll in Britian yesterday? 82% of the population want Blair to quit with war on terror. But whether he listens or not ... Remains to be seen.

You are absolutely right!
Always the wars are done for the rulers who use the people either to get pieces of property for them or be taxed!
Regarding Democracy, was there any time such system? I see only power of the few against the many! And the many, pressed by states, religions, ethics, etc., are being sacrificed worse than lambs to the power of the rulers!

1. History remembers all the wars that go on but rarely remembers the number of times war has been avoided.
As for how they can live with it? As much as the suicide bomber would; both have their own faiths and their "side" to defend.

Who will learn? Both sides declared winning in a war. But actually they both lost.

We could, but we don't. It's about 2 things, money or power. All wars can be traced back to those motivations

I think we can learn just how destructive human nature can be.
It is very disheartening.
