Beer in the bowl. That should keep him happy and drunk.

Just let him swim for those golden waters man! He'll try again when you aren't looking. I've had two that have committed the ultimate sin so far. One swam into a shell and got stuck. I thought the cat had nabbed him until I cleaned the tank and found him in there. Think that counts as death by stupidity, it was afterall a blondish goldfish. The other swam behind the pump and got stuck between the glass and the bubbly hose thing. That one wanted to go. Thye other fish used to bully him because he was the smallest. Maybe it was a dare, in which case the other fish are guilty of manslaughter. All in all, your fish is making a desperate plea for freedom. Perhaps he is depressed. Maybe the other fish don't like him. Maybe he just couldn't bear swimming up and down a tank all his life. It is a bit like prison.

Keeping a goldfish in a little bowl is cruel. Buy a decent sized tank. I would suggest a minmum of 4 feet long by 15 inches wide by 18 inches tall. Brand new, these tanks with lights and filters and gravel, will cost about £200.00.

If you look on ebay you can get the whole set up for as little as £30.00

My fish does that all the time, but he's not trying to jump out of the bowl, because sometimes he does it, and doesn't fall out of the bowl. I think its some type of weird fish spasm or something. Try putting a screen over the bowl, so the fish can still have oxygen in the water.

The bowl should be too small. Has he grown over the last few months and have been kept in the same bowl?
The thing is...bowls give them enough space to go round and round...which causes stress. Yes...stress. Carps are known to get stress as well.
Best put him in a larger TANK and cover it up with a wire mesh. Fill it with plants and aerate it well.
why not get him a companion as well?
Doing the above should leave him a really happy fish.

I used to have a goldfish that did this. I put a wire grill over the top of the tank to stop him getting out.

Looking back now, I don't blame him. Being stuck in a small tank with nowhere to go and no lady fishes to have fun with, there is no point to life.

Is he the only fish in the bowl, if so he might be really sad and looking for company but not realising he isn't able to come out of his bowl to do that, get him a mate, its really good Feng Shui to have two fish in a bowl, it means money luck, hope your fish is OK.

Well here what i would suggest.
1. Try to go deeper and investigate what caused her to take such an extreme measure
2. If it fails you can always start her on Rize 20 mg daily
3. NO good.............Ok try a psychiatric consultation
4. Still no good..........whats the heck .............. Join a meditiation Budhist group in jungles of Srilanka
5. Not working yet...whats the heck...........Just put her in a fry pan..
After all you dont get to eat Fried Golden Fish every day

LOL

Put a cover over the bowl. My grandparent's fish jumped out of its tank while they were away on vacation. They said it was very stinky when they got back

your water is too harsh you should have a filter some plants and dechlorinating product, like tapsafe. you got to much nitrates in the bowl and need a filter. and a air pump. or put a lid on it make sure it can breath so put some holes in it.
