Welll.. i want to, next summer, spend two weeks at my friend's house. she lives in MN. plane tickets are way too much. should I take a greyhound bus? It's only about $400... much cheaper than a plane!! The ride there is nearly two days long. Would you advice this if the only thing I want next summer is to see her?!? Also, I'm only 16 so.. yeah. I don't know how my mom's going to feel about this.. how should I convince her that I'll be alright and everything?

A train ride is way more relaxing and enjoyable than a bus ride. When I was 21 I rode a bus from Monterrey Mexico to Dallas TX. It took forever due to all of the stops, it was cramped and If I wanted to get up and walk around I only had the small aisle to walk. Two days on a bus sucks!

On a train (last year I rode Amtrak from Milwaukee to Minneapolis) you can get food, they have various movies playing, the seats are big and comfy, there's AC power outlets every few seats to charge iPODS and laptops, the ride through the coutryside gives you something to look at, you can even get a private cabin.

As far as convincing your mom goes, she would probably be more comfortable with a short plane ride. Can you work over the winter and save up the extra $$ for a plane ticket or a private cabin on a train ride. Either one of those would make her more comfortable.

It will be awful. the bus that is, look into Amtrack leaving out of South Station in Boston, you can take concord trailways from NH to boston. It will be a much faster and more comfy trip!
