I Asia you will usually find a small hand held shower connected to the pipe that fills the systen... Its soooo much cleaner...You just point the nozzle at the offending area and press the trigger.

Very good question. Using one mug of water to wash up and then two mugs of water + little soap is better for the environment.
Many people use up too much paper because the simple fact is you can never feel clean with paper. Using the full roll of paper may help feel cleaner but only that mug of water actually delivers that 100% feeling.
It is definitely more energy efficient and environmentally friendly to pump in 3 mugs of water into a home than to destroy trees and use chlorine etc to bleach pulp into white paper.
A scientific study should be completed and results published to increase public awareness in the advanced western nations.

LOL Yeah, it's kinda strange why we never adopted. I have so many troubles with my hairy bum, but unfortunately in this area (Eastern Europe) we have no such toilets like in Asia.

muslims must wash after each bathroom visit so you can not say when will western many many western use water and toilet tissue together or seperate!
i use a bottle with a squeegy nozzel! lol

Just tell people tp do this experiment
Put Ketchup in both hands and clean one with tissue papper only and the other with water only ...then after it dries by itself see which one feels clean and which one feels sticky icky...when people figure that out is when you will get your answere

yes in Europe they have bidets. Much better.
But we North Americans love to waste paper.
