I just listened to "Bat Country" for the first time, and I tried very hard to hear a hint of Tourniquet. (I am VERY familiar with Tourniquet). Interesting suggestion... I can say that I see where you might have gotten that idea, but I don't think I would have drawn the comparison without you asking the question. I heard it particularly in the guitar and/or drum sound during the lyrics "No oasis here to see, the sand is singing deathless words to me" and "...show me what it's like to be set free." Avenged Sevenfold should be flattered that you even suggested it.

For the record, Avenged Sevenfold is not my cup of tea. When a band is more about their tattoos and chicks than the actual music and musicianship, they tend to annoy me after the first listen. Don't get me wrong.. there are plenty of awesome bands out there that are all about the tattoos and chicks. They just slay Avenged Sevenfold in the talent department. Tourniquet, however, now there's some real talent!

*Added later: Response to kevin g: Sounds like you are even less familiar with Tourniquet than I am with Avenged Sevenfold. Personally, I am usually not a fan of bands that fall into the "metalcore" or "nu metal" categories. (Without generalizing too much, there are bands that get categorized that way that I do have high regard for). Again, personally, the antics, say, of a Korn or Linkin Park, or in this case, A7X, don't impress-a me much. If your analysis of the drummer is true, my response that is that unfortunately having one ultra-talented member in the group does not in any sense logically mean they are a "great" band. Regarding the question at hand (A7X being inspired by Tourniquet), this is one of those comparisons a la "Is Bono inspired by Pavarotti?" Kinda makes you go, "Well, like any vocalist with a pulse he was probably inspired, yeah, but to try and compare the two, even talent-wise, would be pretty ridiculous!" I guess instead of just flat out implying that I think Avenged Sevenfold lacks talent as a band, the more fair thing for me to say would be, "I smell a gimmick!" (Oh, and I believe I did answer that I don't think they were inspired by Tourniquet.)

e.estlinz;
about them having no talent?
WTF are tyou smoking??? their drummer is INSANE!!!
Zachy Vengance And Synester Gates are SHREDMASTERS, ok maybe not but they can PLAY guitar. the singer can't hit notes for ****, but they have TALENT. i just don't like their pop-metal stuff.
marylin Manson only had 1 guitar player who could play John5. none of his band can play. John5 is awesome. His solo album is ridiculous.
