What you're really asking is if not believing in God is bad. I prefer to look at good and bad in the context of actions, not beliefs. A lot of people (in North America anyhow) assume that Christianity is the source of good and everything else, whether Islam or Hinduism or atheism, is bad.

It's important to remember that people of all beliefs have committed incredible evils. Christianity is at the forefront of this with the crusades, the Inquisition, the Holocaust, pedophilia, persecution of scientists and people of learning, et cetera.

If you want to look for concepts of good and bad, forget about what someone believes in and look past that to what they are actually doing.

At first I thought that it was stupid and would hold very little on people.

How wrong I was. It's not only stupid, but it's dangerous. After what happened to Terry Schiavo from those that now consider saving lives invalid, I've found that it's deleterious to society.

Consider the lives taken from atheist societies. Millions were taken by Stalin, millions by Zedong, etcetera.

That doesn't make me hateful, however. Atheists have the same right as non-atheists, and one day, hopefully, will find God before it's too late. Someone who's elderly and a wonderful person was raised as an atheist. She's now Christian and devoted.

That's just an example.

do you think that evil exists?
if so then where does it come from? i'd say satan. and if evil has it's own hero, must not also good? meaning that if evil exists, then the devil exists, and if he's there then there is a purpose for God.
If atheism is right, then there is no right, no wrong, and the point of asking this question is lost.

Not at all. If atheism is bad then religion is bad too.

I thinks this answer can also to be answered in a different perspective. Nothing is bad as long as it believes in well being of mankind. If you are a responsible human being & doing your duties and thus helping the mankind, it really doesn't matter whether you belong to a particular theory or not.

why are u worried about if it is bad. if you are worrying about it then you must feel that it is not right. i know that i personally disagree with it b/c my boyfriend is athiest and it really bothers me that if he does not change his beliefs that i will not get to spend an eternity in heaven with my baby.. i know that God will take my sorrow that i feel for his absence away, but i just feel like it would be so much better w/ him

i think atheism shouldn't exist altogether. go with buddhism, or maybe hindu. what's important is that u have someone or something to pray to.
