I would present the problem to the school. They are the ones asking for you to provide uniforms and pay for them. They also did not protect the uniforms during class by making the kids wear protective clothing.
When I was is school and we did any painting, etc. they gave us smocks to cover our clothes to protect them so this would not happen.

Buy a new uniform and forget about it. If you cannot pay for a new uniform for financial reasons approach the school and see what they say. It is worth asking the question. The school should have a policy in place where they provide overalls for metal and woodwork.

It seems like the kind of thing that's nobody's fault, really! But it would be nice of the girl's parents to offer to buy him a new shirt.
Just get him a new shirt. Uniforms are cheaper than regular school clothes anyway.
And maybe suggest that they wear smocks in woodwork!

Keep washing it, using bleach for unbleachables (if it has some sort or crest or logo on it, or regular bleach . Whatever you do, don't put it into the dryer until you have the colour out. Once you do that, the stain will be set and you'll never get it out until it fades away. As is was an accident, no one is responsible. See what the school's policy is on things like this. That's your best bet.

That is a part of normal wear and tear. An accident, but it won;t be the first one. I suppose the school or teacher or parent of the child could be graceful and offer to pay, but such things are the risk of living in such a society.
If you kid dumped the paint, would you offer to pay for the damage?
It may be wise for the teacher to enforce a coverall rule during such activities.

It was an accident caused by a child. To put blame onto anybody would be an act of severely petty. I hope this isn't the example you want to set for your child. School uniforms are very inexpensive compared to the cost of having a child who blames everybody else for their small mistakes.

one of dad's cast off shirts makes an exellent painting shirt for kids.... of all ages...
ya know life isn't always fair.... and sometimes ya just gotta take it on the chin.....
count the blessings you have:
a boy who can use paint.... (my first son passed away at age six no more painting for him..)
you can afford to send him to school (millions of kids world wide never see a classroom)
he has interesting classes offered at his school like woodwork..
just buy him a new uniform.... and insist your son wears some kind of apron or overshirt while tackling paint jobs..
