Check the coil terminals where the plug wire connects. Remove each wire, one at a time and see if any of the terminals are discolored. If any are, you'll need to have the coil and plug wire replaced. Pay special attention to the coil for cyl's #1 & #4...that one was common for carbon tracking, but any one of the 3 coils could fail.

Most likely the condition you have is caused by lack of spark to that cyl or a bad/dirty fuel injector.

I would check the ignition coils. I belive this engine is a distributor-less ignition so it will have coil packs wich can cause this. Trace your plug wire back to the coil, take the coil down to autozone and have it tested. I would take the ignition module as well.

The thermostat is a competent place to start. If this continues to be a concern you in fact ought to study the entire cooling gadget. Water pump, cooling fan seize, belts, hoses, lower back flush. in fact I wouldnt rigidity it anymore until eventually you come across the subject by way of fact the shaking and the sounds are a preliminary to your engine blowing. one greater component, examine to work out in case your oil is milky. this might point out that coolant is entering into your oil.

I agree with having the ignition coil tested. What error code is the computer transmitting?

You probably have a fuel injector out of it.
