My copy of this book is in pristine condition other than my name is written in ink in the upper right corner of the blank page which precedes the title page. Does this decrease it's value? Should I cut that corner of the page off, or leave it as it is? Note: The original dust jacket is perfect other than a small wrinkle on the top where it meets the spine of the book.

Thanks Sandie, for your informative response. I was actually able to erase my name from the inside of the book....must have been erasable ink. I really am not concerned with the monetary value, I was mostly just curious. "The Bean Trees" is my all-time favorite book and I can't see myself ever parting with this copy of it, whether it be worth $1,000 or only a dime. Thank you again for answering my question.

Both the name and the crease would mean it is not in pristine condition but it would possibly be considered "gently used". "Pristine" would imply nobody has even cracked the spine to read it. I wouldn't cut it though, it may still be considered collectible
