In a carbon cycle...carbon in the atmosphere comes from different sources...we respire ..plants respire at night to give carbon dioxide....burning of coal, wood, organic substances decomposition of bodies in the soil...everything release carbon dioxide which is a source of carbon and thus take part and carry out carbon cycle..this carbon again forms carbon dioxide by reacting with oxygen of the atmosphere. This carbon dioxide is necessary for photosynthesis. ...But the cycle of water is different in some ways...when we breathe water vapour is given out...water is given out in various reactions ;like photosynthesis and respiration...thus this is similar to carbon cycle in some ways...heating something evaporates water...so..carbon and water are released at the same time..as when a candle burns..carbon and water vapour are both released...so you see their sources are almost similar ,...only that they differ in constitution...^_^

Trying to get out of homework? Carbon can be found in more places than water- including a lot of solids. Check the front of any science text they'll have a little diagram about plants and inhale/exhale etc showing the whole cylce which I bet is what you need. Usually in the first chapter, too. Hydrogen is the most common element.

Carbon is recycled through molecules like sugars through processes like glycolysis. Water can be made in the electron transport pathway, which is related to glycolysis. Check out those chapters in your biochemistry book and it should help a lot. That or check out photosynthesis.
